Questions on Preggie Pops

Is there a limit to how many Preggie Pops, Drops or Naturals I can have per day?

The maximum daily intake for the Preggie Chews and the Preggie Plus is six per day, because they contain Vitamin B6.
The Preggie Pop and regular Preggie Pop Drops have no limits because they contain no ingredients that have a daily limit. We recommend, However, that you keep in mind your calorie and sugar intake while using them.

Are Preggie Pops Gluten free?

Yes, our products are gluten free.

I have nut allergies. Are PreggiePops processed in a nut-free environment?

No, please be aware that PreggiePops, PreggieDrops, QueasyDrops, and QueasyPops are processed in a plant that also processes Dairy, Peanut, Almond, Walnut, Pecan, Nutmeg, Soy Protein and Wheat Products.

Will Preggie Pops help my heartburn?

While we do not market our product for heartburn, if you check our testimonials you will see that some customers are using them for relief. Mint is probably your best bet.

However, our heartburn suggestions include:

  • Eat smaller more frequent meals.
  • Avoid foods which you KNOW cause heartburn for you.
  • Try taking meals and beverages separately to keep from over filling your stomach.
  • Try cold or cool foods instead of hot meals.
  • If your healthcare provider approves you could try an antacid such as, "Tums".
  • Don't lay down right after eating.
  • Talk to your healthcare provider.
Are Preggie Pops effective for inner ear problems?

Our customers report using the pops for various types of motion sickness with various results but we don't market our product for inner ear complaints. That sounds like a job for your family healthcare provider.

When do you consider Preggie Pops to be expired?

Preggie Pops have a shelf-life of 18 months.

Do you think this will help people with Meniere’s disease?

While one of our customers has written to say she uses Queasy Pops with success, especially the cinnamon, we have no other evidence that Preggie Pops help with Meniere's disease.

I suppose you could give them a try for the nausea and vomiting symptoms but they may not help with the other symptoms of the syndrome such as dizziness, tinnitus or loss of equilibrium. Since these symptoms are likely causing the nausea, I am sorry to say that our lollies are not necessarily the answer for you.

Now, I suppose, there's an outside chance that if the symptoms are due to a pressure change in the semi-circular canals of the ear, that the act of sucking could alter the symptoms. This is purely conjecture, however, and Meniere's symptoms could also be caused by infection, allergy, or various circulatory problems.

Your family healthcare provider is your best bet with this problem.

I love Preggie Pops but I am on a tight budget. Is there a way I can save money and still get my Preggie Pops?

One idea would be to go in together with some women friends and order a twelve pack. Preggie Pops are more reasonable in quantity. Another is to use our online store locator to find a shop near you. This may save you postage.

As for our prices, we do use a special formulation of only all natural colors and flavorings making our production costs greater. Also, we manufacture our product in the United States while many other sugar and brown rice syrup products are made in China or Mexico.

What about using honey instead of brown rice syrup or sugar?

We have considered the honey idea but have not offered a product yet. In our human digestion the sugar, honey and brown rice syrup all end up as the same thing; glucose.

The difficulty with honey seems to be getting a pop mixture that has reasonable shelf life and ability to cook into the right consistency, hardness and resistance to moisture in the air.

Forget "morning" sickness, I have "all day sickness" and can't keep anything down. I want to try Preggie Pops but can you give me any other tips for morning sickness?

You are not alone. "Morning sickness" is somewhat of a misnomer because many women do suffer throughout the day. Try to relax and eat only what sounds good to you for the time being. This phase should pass sooner or later. Some food is better than no food.

Always keep your health care provider informed of what is going on during this time to insure the best care. Some women will actually need to have intravenous fluids due to dehydration. Your healthcare provider needs to be aware of your condition to help you maintain a safe and healthy pregnancy.

Other tips include:
1) A snack of protein plus carbohydrate (cheese or peanut butter and crackers)
2) Mixing salty and tart (lemonade and potato chips)
3) Avoiding large meals, greasy foods, and strong smelling foods.
4) You might try keeping a nonperishable snack next to your bed and eating it before you get up for the day.

5) Get some fresh air.

Remember, the baby acts as a good parasite and is quite small in the first three months, nutrition-wise you are the one more likely to suffer (i.e., anemia) if it continues throughout, or beyond, the 1st three months.

Take solace in the fact that morning sickness is considered a positive sign of pregnancy.

Can the ginger in Preggie Pops cause uterine contractions?

Ginger is a well known remedy for nauseated people. Our pharmacologist tells us that the studies she has seen report that a person would have to ingest greater than 250 mg a day of pure ginger extract to cause any adverse reaction. Our Preggie Pops use only a trace amount of actual ginger for the natural flavor used. Therefore we consider Preggie Pops quite safe. As always, you should consult your healthcare provider on a question of this nature, and follow their advice.

Do you make Preggie Pops or Queasy-Pops for diabetic women?

Absolutely, we now offer sugarfree Queasy Pops. They are available in two flavors: ginger and sour raspberry. Splenda is used to sweeten these popular Pops.

Are Preggie Pops absolutely safe for pregnancy?

We have absolutely no reason to believe Preggie Pops are not safe. There is neither any medication, nor any newly created substance in them. All the ingredients are natural food items.

On the other hand, each of us is a unique individual and we must use our common sense when considering a new product. For instance, a diabetic would need to figure the grams of carbohydrate of a Preggie Pop into her meal plan. If you have any food allergies this would have to be considered. It is important to be a conscientious consumer and ask about the safety of anything you consume when pregnant.

Please discuss your questions with your healthcare provider before considering any product safe in pregnancy.

I am a repeat customer and Preggie Pops are the only thing that works for me. How many Preggie Pops can I eat a day?

The limit as to how many Preggie Pops can be consumed in a day is really an individual call.

There is no known danger limit, as all ingredients are food quality and natural products; however, use your common sense. If you are pregnant, (some of our customers are on chemo or have motion sickness), you will need to include vitamin, mineral and fiber sources in your allotment of daily carbohydrate calories. Preggie Pops have about 40 calories each. If you are on an 1800 calorie diet and had 45% of your calories allocated as carbohydrates this would be about 800 calories a day for the carbohydrate budget. Included in this allotment I'm expecting your healthcare provider would want you to have mostly whole grains, starchy vegetables and fruits.

We always recommend you ask your healthcare provider, or dietitian, the same question you asked us, because we do not know your individual health history. Some women have special concerns, such as gestational diabetes, and each special health concern will require the answer to be individualized.

Some women have reported eating as many as 6 pops a day which would still leave room for some other high quality foods.

You may want to order sugarfree Queasy Pops. They are available in two flavors: ginger and sour raspberry. Splenda is used to sweeten these popular Pops.

Do Preggie Pops work for everyone?

Each person responds in their own way to any therapy. Therefore, nothing works for everyone. However, we have many, many, satisfied customers and you can read what they have to say on our website.

I get nauseated and sometimes also have the dry heaves. Can Preggie Pops help me?

Dry heaves are no picnic. Many women with morning sickness don't necessarily vomit but do report to us that our pops help with that nauseous feeling. Nausea usually comes before the "dry heaves", and if you stop the sick stomach feeling you just might avoid the heaves. Once you are vomiting most things will not work as well. You might try avoiding greasy foods while you're at it. Good luck and we wish for smoother sailing for you from here on in.

I now have gestational diabetes and wonder if I can still use Preggie Pops?

You may want to order sugarfree Queasy Pops. They are available in two flavors: ginger and sour raspberry. Splenda is used to sweeten these popular Pops and they have 0 net carbs.

Otherwise, since you have gestational diabetes you are in a bit of a quandary. Gestational diabetes is nothing to take casually. You will need to take your healthcare provider and dietician's advice on how many carbohydrates (for example; sugar, brown rice syrup) you can safely allow yourself. Always listen to your healthcare team. Many pregnant women have glucose intolerance, which is less severe but still requires you to be careful with sugars and starches. Our pops do have carbohydrates; in fact, this is part of what makes them work for some women.

Each pop contains 8 grams of carbohydrate. This is approximately one half of a carbohydrate serving, if you are following the 15 grams of carbohydrate to a serving method. Therefore, depending on how many carbohydrates you are allowed you could substitute a Preggie Pop if you were feeling nauseated.

One concern would be that you don't use so many Preggie Pops that you are always substituting a simple sugar (lollipop) for your carbohydrate serving. Simple sugars are good for energy but do not contain the vitamins, minerals or fiber that a more complex carbohydrate like beans, whole grain bread or a potato would give you. On the other hand, if you are going to bring that potato up later, it won't do you much good either, so play it by ear and keep close tabs with your health care providers so you will have a safe and healthy pregnancy.

Are Preggie Pops kosher?

Yes,  K of-K certified.

Do all of the Preggie Pops have ginger in them?

No, the other flavors do not contain ginger. However, our other flavor oils, such as citrus or mints also have a long history of being used to soothe tummies in their own right.

I know someone who uses Preggie Pops for air travel sickness, have you heard this?

Many customers report using our Preggie Pops for motion sickness with good success. Please see our Queasy Pop products for more alternatives.

What can you tell me about the amount of specific herbal ingredients used for efficacy?

We have our own special recipe and while our customers report it is very effective, it is far less than the large quantities often used to obtain results in large research models. We believe this is because of the combination of elements working together in our product. For instance, when you have a pill form of "x" number of milligrams of lavender or ginger you have separated out some other elements, such as the aromatherapy component, which we feel can be of significant value. With our mints, for example, customers report feeling better even as they inhale the fragrance.

What's in Preggie Pops and how do they work?

Childbirth educators have historically recommended sour flavored pops for labor because they were perceived to be less likely to exacerbate queasy stomachs. Lavender has been widely used in aroma therapy for relaxation and sometimes for upset stomach as well. Mint has long been used in both oral and aroma therapies for upset tummies. Ginger is an ancient remedy for tummy troubles and research shows that mint has been used for over a hundred years.

We use the natural essences from these sources to flavor our Preggie Pops. For nausea caused by hypoglycemia, even the sugar and brown rice syrup in our pops can be effective. In fact even the mode of delivery is therapeutic as only a small amount is delivered to the stomach at a time. So, part of why Preggie Pops work rests on where your morning sickness is coming from, which is still rather poorly understood. The overwhelming response from our customers is that our special formulation does work for most women.

In development of our Preggie Pops we also incorporated what women requested or recommended. Our pops are for both labor and morning sickness and we have tried to address each phase with specific flavors. However, our customers report using all flavors with success for both labor and morning sickness.

Preggie Pops use only natural flavors and colors and there are no medications to interfere with other therapies or complicate your pregnancy.

In summary: Our Preggie Pops work by a combination of:

  • Specific essential oils flavors known to help stomach problems
  • Aromatherapy
  • Mode of delivery
  • Sugars to combat hypoglycemic queasy stomach
  • And, they are safe because they are all natural

Questions on Queasy Pops

Is there a limit to how many Preggie Pops, Drops or Naturals I can have per day?

The maximum daily intake for the Preggie Chews and the Preggie Plus is six per day, because they contain Vitamin B6.
The Preggie Pop and regular Preggie Pop Drops have no limits because they contain no ingredients that have a daily limit. We recommend, However, that you keep in mind your calorie and sugar intake while using them.

Are Queasy Pops Gluten free?

Yes, our products are gluten free.

I have nut allergies. Are QueasyPops processed in a nut-free environment?

No, please be aware that PreggiePops, PreggieDrops, QueasyDrops, and QueasyPops are processed in a plant that also processes Dairy, Peanut, Almond, Walnut, Pecan, Nutmeg, Soy Protein and Wheat Products.

Do Queasy Pops help with the queasy stomach sometimes associated with medication use?

While we do not market our product for this purpose, our frequently asked questions suggest some customers do utilize Queasy Pops in this way.

Why are there so many flavors?

Research and experience in the health field, and in life, have taught us that there is more than one way to solve a problem. We have customers that only order one flavor, telling us it works best for them. We always listen to our customers finding them a true source of wisdom. We generally urge you to try our variety pack to see what helps you the most, and then order your favorite.

How do Queasy Pops work?

Many of our elements have been used for centuries. Specific tastes have been found to affect the nervous pathways stemming from the cranial nerves. Interestingly enough, research is ongoing on specific flavor stimulation of the trigeminal nerve associated with nausea relief. We have put tremendous energy into formulating our flavors and continue to do so.

Queasy Pops, what sort of name is that anyway?

We were looking for a name that would be easily recognized by the people we wish to help. Since “queasy” was a word frequently used by people with motion sickness, dizziness or morning sickness, it seemed perfect to speak to those in need of Queasy Pops. It is a general term and doesn’t specify the source of the discomfort, making it the right choice for it’s many applications.

How can such a simple product help relieve my queasiness?

Many customers have written to us expressing surprise with the relief they have experienced using our Queasy Pops.  Keep in mind that our product includes herbal and natural ingredients which have stood the test of time and aid in the relief of those awful, transient, queasy stomachs. Three Lollies works hard to make a product that is pleasing rather than bad tasting.

Do they really work?

Because a queasy stomach can have many sources, there is no perfect solution for everyone. We were careful in researching our flavors to select a variety of essential oils in order that people could find one that worked for them. In fact, we have received great feedback from people who say our pops relieved their nausea from car sickness, riding in airplanes, on boats, and also morning sickness. Because no specific herb or natural product is perfect for everyone, we provide a variety of flavor choices. Try each to find your solution. We believe our Queasy Pops are definitely worth a try. If you are looking for what our customers say, read our testimonials.

How many Smoking Free Naturals can I have per day?

The limit as to how many Smoking Free Naturals can be consumed in a day is really an individual call. There is no known danger limit, as all ingredients are food quality and natural products.

Do Smoking Free Naturals work for everyone?

Each person responds in their own way to any therapy and nothing works for everyone. However, we have many satisfied customers and you can read what they have to say on our website.

I have type 2 diabetes and wonder if I can still use Smoking Free Naturals?

If you are diabetic, only use Smoking Free Naturals if your doctor tells you it is okay. Our lollipops contain carbohydrates. In fact, carbohydrates and sugars are part of what makes Smoking Free Naturals so effective for some people trying to quit. See our previous question regarding sugars.

You will need to speak to your healthcare provider regarding how many carbohydrates you can safely allow yourself. Always listen to your healthcare team. Each pop contains 10 grams of carbohydrate.

Do all Smoking Free Naturals have sugar in them?

Yes. We at Smoking Free Naturals know that in order to quit smoking successfully, you will need to stay calm. That’s why we purposely decided to include sugars in our Smoking Free Naturals lollipops... but with a very healthy difference. Our sugars are all natural. So, they will help you stay calm naturally while you strive to keep the harsh chemicals contained in cigarette smoke from entering your brain and body.

I heard that cigarette smoke contains sugars. Is this true?

Yes. Cigarette smoke does contain sugar and these sugars have a way of relaxing your brain? This may sound like a good thing but, while the sugars in cigarettes are not harmful like the tars and nicotine, these sugars are a major cause for further cigarette addiction.

What are the Smoking Free Naturals flavors?

Wintergreen has the ability to perk up the taste buds. The scent often causes a deep breath response due to it’s almost menthol-strength fragrance. This deep breath (yes, go with it!) mimics the conditioned relaxation response of the first drag on a cigarette.

Pineapple is a tantalizing flavor that also has the ability to freshen the breath.

Cinnamon, in its natural state, is intense enough to stimulate the flavor sensors under the tongue for an additional soothing effect. Some healthcare professionals believe that cinnamon may clear and improve thought process.

I know Smoking Free Naturals are delicious, but why are your flavors so effective?

Smoking diminishes a person’s sense of taste. All 3 of our natural flavors are strongly delicious so that they can be tasted by those trying to quit smoking.

Why is L-tryptophan in Smoking Free Naturals?

L-Tryptophan, a naturally occurring amino acid, is widely believed to help calm cigarette cravings.

What ingredients are in Smoking Free Naturals?

Smoking Free Naturals are made with only natural flavors and colors. There are no medications. Smoking Sucks also contain L-Tryptophan.

How will Smoking Free Naturals help me conquer these behaviors?

We believe our Smoking Free Naturals lollipops can replace some of these unhealthy, learned behaviors with healthy behaviors in the following ways:

  1. Instead of taking a cigarette out of its box, a Smoking Free Naturals lollipop becomes the healthier object of this ritual as it is taken out of the box and unwrapped.
  2. Instead of putting a cigarette between the lips and lighting it up, a Smoking Free Naturals lollipop becomes the object of this ritual as your hands place the lollipop in your mouth.
  3. Instead of the first, deep inhalation of cigarette smoke, your first deep breath tastes the fresh scent of natural-flavored lollipop.
  4. Instead of moving a lit cigarette in and out of your mouth, your hand to the mouth action is rewarded with another taste of a delicious, sweet lollipop.
  5. Instead of sucking on a cigarette to draw smoke, you suck on a Smoking Sucks lollipop to draw flavor.
  6. Instead of tasting tars and nicotine, you will taste our fresh, Smoking Free Naturals flavors which are intense enough to break through the diminished sense of taste often caused by cigarette smoke.

The more these healthy rituals are performed, the better they will make you feel. The better you feel, the more likely it is that you will be able to quit smoking for good.

How does L-tryptophan help stop the cravings?

When a smoker inhales tobacco smoke, there is a rapid relaxation effect from the tars and nicotine. When L-tryptophan is absorbed sublingually (under the tongue) the uptake is also very rapid and therefore often calms the person enough so that they won’t need to reach for a cigarette.

What is the main ingredient in Smoking Free Naturals that will help me fight my nicotine addiction?

Smoking Free Naturals contain L-Tryptophan, a naturally occurring amino acid, widely believed to help calm cigarette cravings as you try to quit smoking.

What are Smoking Free Naturals®?

Smoking Free Naturals are a new, smoking cessation lollipop, especially developed by healthcare professionals, for those who have decided to quit smoking the natural, drug-free, way.

What are some of the habitual behavior patterns of smokers?

Smoking behaviors that smokers enjoy include:

  • taking the cigarette out of the box and looking at it
  • holding the cigarette between the lips, striking a match or lighter, and lighting the tip
  • the first, very deep, inhalation
  • moving the cigarette in and out of the mouth between inhalations
  • watching the way fingers hold the cigarette between inhalations, just as the taste and feel of the inhaled smoke is experienced by the brain.
  • watching the exhaled smoke dissipate into the surrounding air

People who smoke associate both the stimulating and relaxing elements of smoking with these behaviors. These behaviors can become so ingrained that they actually become a learned response that feels good to smokers. The more these rituals are performed, the better the smoker feels. Unfortunately, these patterns are as much a contributor to smoking addiction as the nicotine itself.

What else about smoking cigarettes is addictive?

n addition to the addictive substances in tobacco products, there are several ritual behaviors that become part of a smoker’s habitual patterns

Why am I addicted to the nicotine in cigarettes?

With the inhalation of cigarette smoke, the released nicotine causes first a rush of stimulation... and then relaxation. The brain enjoys this rush but quickly develops a tolerance and demands more and more nicotine to obtain the same level of pleasure. The more you smoke, the more nicotine your brain demands.

The pleasant stimulation and relaxation sensations that result when the nicotine drug is present in the body — and the unpleasant sensations when it's absent — can make smoking cessation very difficult.

What did the 1988 Surgeon General's Report on "Nicotine Addiction," conclude?

  • Cigarettes and other forms of tobacco are addicting.
  • Nicotine is the drug that causes addiction.
  • Pharmacologic and behavioral characteristics that determine tobacco addiction are similar to those that determine addiction to drugs such as heroin and cocaine.

What is nicotine?

Nicotine is an addictive drug that can cause withdrawal symptoms.
