5 Tips to Stay Hydrated

Hydrated

Being hydrated is always important

It is a well-known fact that providing your body with a sufficient amount of water daily is crucial. Not taking enough water regularly can lead to undesirable effects, such as headaches, nausea, or even life-threatening health complications.

Sometimes, trying to stay hydrated can be difficult, which is why we provide a list of 5 things that should help you keep yourself well hydrated at all times:

Figure out the right amount of water for your body

The first thing you need to figure out is the amount of water your body needs to stay hydrated. The easiest way to determine this amount is to divide your body weight in half and use that calculation as a guide.

You should also take into account that some conditions might require a specific amount of water. Here are some examples:

  • Pregnant women need extra fluids to keep the baby and themselves healthy. The same refers to women who are breastfeeding.
  • People with certain illnesses, such as kidney or heart failure, might need to drink less fluids, but should always discuss that with a medical expert.
  • Athletes and people who exercise daily, especially in the presence of humidity, need to consume more water than people who are not as physically active.

Carry a water container with you at all times

The best way to stay hydrated is to carry a bottle with you at all times. The bottle will remind you to drink water often. Plus, it will be a kind of challenge for you to make yourself drink it all.

Consider other healthy beverages

If you cannot manage to drink only plain water throughout the whole day, consider other healthy beverages, such as tea or juice. These will not disrupt your healthy routine. However, for proper hydration, ensure that you’re not replacing water with processed juices containing a lot of sugar.

And if water is your preferred option, but you’d appreciate some taste to it, you can add a slice of lemon, orange, or cucumber to your glass or bottle.

Control the intake of alcohol and caffeine

It is a fact that alcohol and caffeine lead to dehydration. This does not mean that you cannot consume them at all, but that you need to control the amounts you take. And if you’re a passionate coffee lover, make sure you drink a glass of water with every cup of coffee to be well hydrated.

Use an app or alarm as a reminder

There are hundreds of apps that are designed to help you lead a healthier life, and that includes proper hydration. They will remind you to drink water and other fluids on a daily basis. However, setting your alarm will also do the job.

We hope these tips will help you stay hydrated and remind you how important it is to consume water regularly. Taking a sufficient amount of water is one of the most important habits you must establish, so do not ignore it!
